Deceased Estate Clearance

We offer a complete end-to-end Property Clearance service for deceased estates. Our goal is to take away as much stress as possible for you. We will manage the most challenging and time consuming tasks associated with the clearance of a deceased estate property.

The passing of a family member goes hand-in-hand with sorrow and grief, and is made worse by the burden of organising the possessions in their home and selling their estate. Our services are designed to lighten your load, managing every major task associated with property clearance and giving you back the time you need to grieve. These are the main tasks we complete as part of our deceased estate house clearances:

How we manage your family member’s belongings

Working compassionately and respecting the legacy of those who have passed are two of the most important aspects of our services. We treat every single one of your loved one’s possessions with the utmost respect, and make an informed decision whether it’s best to sell or donate them. We only throw away items as a last resort, to help protect our planet’s environment.

This is our process for managing your family member’s belongings:

  • Before we begin, we ask that you remove any personal belongings you’d like to keep or those specified in a will. If that’s not possible, our team can identify these items for you, set them aside, and arrange secure delivery to you or a nominated family member.
  • We systematically sort through each room, cataloguing contents and assessing the best sales method for each item. Together, we determine which items are worth selling, suitable for donation, or need to be responsibly disposed of. We sell valuables through the most effective channels and donate appropriate items to trusted charities via our Pass It Forward Program.
  • For items you choose to keep, we handle all packing and organise delivery through our network of reliable local and interstate couriers, ensuring safe and timely transport.

We understand how emotionally and physically demanding this process can be. That’s why we tailor our deceased estate clearance services to your specific situation, providing a compassionate, stress-free approach every step of the way.

  • Organise local real estate agents to help you sell the property.

Organising a family member’s estate is an immense project that requires careful planning and hard work. Here are some common obstacles that you may face, and how we help you to overcome them.

Deceased Estate House Clearance FAQs

1. What happens with expensive items?

Valuable and personal items like photos are usually removed by yourself before we start clearing the property, but if we find anything else—jewellery, antiques, photos, or even cash—we return them to you. Every item in the home belongs to the client and we respect that. We take this part of our role very seriously.

2. What do you do as part of your deceased estate clean up?

We offer much more than typical deceased estate clearing services, who may only take items that are easy to sell, and leave the rest for you to deal with. Our goal is to manage and complete the entire process for you, giving back your precious time.

As part of our services, we meticulously go through every room in the property, collating and organising the items found within. We then catalogue them (if requested), and decide whether each item is cost-effective to sell, should be donated, or should be thrown away.

Once the property is clear, we prepare it for sale by deep clearing, completing maintenance, landscaping, and renovating (if required).

3. Which items do you handle?

We take care of every single item, including deceased estate furniture, fine art, jewellery, silverware, collectables such as dolls, stamps, and coins or vast collections. Our experience with selling items and our extensive network of contacts allows us to achieve a sound market price for every single item, taking a little pressure away from you.

4. Our family can’t agree on this process. Can you help?

Family disagreements are common when dealing with an estate, and can be challenging to navigate. To put everyone at ease, we develop a comprehensive service outline that explains everything we do for you. This creates a solid foundation that helps your family members to feel reassured about the whole process we are undertaking.

5. How much do your deceased estate house clearances cost?

Our services vary based on the property, and your objectives. In most cases, our fees are between 0.5% and 1% of the property value. This cost gives you peace of mind knowing that the situation is being handled with care, respect, and integrity of the highest standard

6. Can you deal with messy homes?

We understand that some homes are not as organised as others, especially after a lifetime of collecting things. Our team will methodically and respectfully work through your loved one’s property, no matter how cluttered it may seem.

We have cleared hoarders homes, derelict homes, and biohazardous homes in various stages. We work with professionals who can visit the home before we enter to undertake chemical, rodent or general bio spray.

7. Do you offer deceased estate auctions?

We don’t run auctions, but if some of your family member’s items will sell best at auction, we can arrange for them to be sold there. After years selling various types of items, we know which selling channels to use to get the best financial return, whether auctions, online stores, or through our vast network of buyers.
